Joint Initiative - CARE BUS 2017

Assisted with funds from Gourmet in Gundy to sponsor a bus for CARE Goondiwindi

Care Goondiwindi is going places and it’s all due to a great community, Rotary Club of Goondiwindi, the Goondiwindi Regional Council and the Community Benefit Fund.

Care has gone from needing a bus – any bus – to being able to fund two buses.

Care Goondiwindi president Julia Telford said that the organisation is thrilled to be able to afford the desperately needed buses and finally be able to meet the needs of many groups and individuals who Care services, including youth, seniors and those with a disability.

“We have purchased one bus with a wheelchair access lift, and Rotary has supported the purchase of a second bus, something that we desperately needed, but didn’t think we would be able to fund for another few years,” Julia said. “We are so grateful that our local Rotary members value the work we do within the community and made the generous decision to donate the cost of one whole bus.

Goondiwindi Rotary Club president Peter Corish said Rotary is proud to be able to sponsor the second bus for Care Goondiwindi. “Care is a vital community organisation and the second bus will enable them to more effectively transport people with special needs and groups within the town and importantly, to other destinations as required,” Peter said.

“The funds we committed to purchase the bus have come from the positive results of the 2016 Rotary Gourmet in Gundy event and I wish to acknowledge all our sponsors for that event and in particular our three major sponsor’s, Chesterfield, Lowes Petroleum and the Woods Group,” Peter said.
